Fighting Flu Season
It’s that time of the year…. flu season! Flu season officially kicks off in October while flu activity peaks in January or later. Being prepared is your best defense!
The flu shot is your best protection. The flu vaccine is recommended for anyone over 6 months of age and especially for seniors, children and individuals with chronic health conditions.
Be on guard by following hand washing guidelines and avoid contact with other sick people. If you become sick, stay home and rest. Don’t return to work or other activities for 24 hours after your fever is gone.
Be prepared by stock up on supplies: tissues, hand soap, hand sanitizer and paper towels. Check your medicine cabinet and have on hand pain relievers and fever reducers. Fill up the fridge and pantry with easy to make foods along with soups.
Continue to practice your daily healthy routines of getting the recommended rest, healthy nutrition, exercise and relaxation to keep your immune system on the offense.
